Privacy Policy

Preliminary summary — not yet a complete legal document. The definitive privacy policy will be published before general availability.

Document editing stays local

OfficeLabs runs as a native module inside your LibreOffice installation. Your documents, and the content you write and edit, are processed and stored on your own machine. We do not upload your document content to our servers as part of normal editing.

What our cloud backend does handle

OfficeLabs is not a purely offline product. A cloud service (api.officelabs.ai) supports parts of the app that cannot run locally:

  • Account & authentication — email/password sign-in and OAuth sign-in via Google and Apple, used to identify your account and authorize the desktop app.
  • Billing — subscription and payment processing is handled through Stripe. We do not store your card details ourselves.
  • AI request proxy — when you use an AI feature, your request is routed through our backend to the underlying AI provider, and usage is metered per account so we can enforce plan limits. This means AI prompts you send do pass through our servers, even though your document content otherwise does not.

Our commitment

We built OfficeLabs local-first on purpose. We collect the minimum account and billing data required to run the product, we do not sell personal data, and we do not use your document content to train models. The full policy — including data retention periods, sub-processor list, and your rights under applicable data protection law — will be published as a definitive document ahead of general availability.
